If you've even glanced at The Forum, you've probably already noticed that we have some intriguingly-named categories in there. I'm specifically referring to the ones that start with a number (spelled out) and end curiously with a "Z" and an "s." The first one on the list is "ONE-Zs." Let me be clear. This is not a forum about pajamas, thrilling though such a thing may be.
You should have also noticed that under each category title is a little explanation of what lies inside. In the case of the ONE-Zs, the sub-heading clearly reads "One-wheeled electric off-roaders." The trouble there is that saying all of that - or typing it - simply requires too much effort. Too many syllables. Too many letters. Too many sounds and things. Ugh. So... for our purposes here at Electric Off-Roaders, ONE-Zs is what we'll use instead, you know, to refer to one-wheeled electric off-roaders. By no means do you have to write it that way. But we'll know just what you mean if you do.
What's with the Z's? Well, I'll tell you. It's a phonetic thing really. It's not related to sleep or rear-wheel drive Nissans at all. It's the sound it makes: zeeeeeeees. For me the emphasis is really on the "e" sound as opposed to the "z" sound - the “E” in this case being indicative of the electric drivetrain.
My rational for coming up with this naming scheme was mostly to try to make it easier for folks to find that which they seek by having a system in place that allows us to more easily categorize our product reviews and news articles and so that you all can do the same with your own forum posts. After all, the guy putting a ladder rack on his Rivian R1T may not be the slightest bit interested in your one-wheel trail ride last weekend - and vice versa. For me personally, I think it’s easier to type (and say) “1z” than it is to type electric unicycle, and “2z” instead of electric motorcycle, and so on. If you disagree, then by all means refer to your electric off-reader however you please. Just know that here on this hallowed ground, we know what you mean when you say 3z. Mkay? Great.
